Test system for aircraft wheel-rim

In collaboration with our partner for eddy-current technology, WOLL has developed a highly flexible testing system for aircraft wheel-rim halves. The system covers the full range of wheel diameters, from small nose wheels to large main landing gear wheels. Configurations for both manual and automated loading using workpiece carriers on roller conveyors have been implemented.

Core of the system is an electrically driven rotary table that ensures reproducible positioning of the wheel-rim halves during testing. Eddy-current testing reliably detects surface cracks and subsurface defects, supported by a test probe with two-axis movement for precise scanning. A pneumatic clamping and centring cone securely fixes the components throughout the test cycle.

Ergonomically designed safety systems facilitate loading and unloading while ensuring efficient, reliable, and consistent operation. The system enables reliable, fully traceable quality inspection in line with high level aerospace standards.
