Fully automated filter cartridge production
for 24/7 operation
The production line developed by WOLL enables the fully automated, continous production of filter cartridges. It combines high precision, stable process control, and minimal operator intervention. It is specifically tailored to applications in the food industry.
An unwinding-roll-magazine with automatic roll change ensures continuous feeding of the nonwoven material. Material flow is monitored and logged via a camera-based system. Processing is performed with a tolerance of ±0.2 mm at rates of up to 150 pleats per minute.
After pleat counting and cross-cutting, longitudinal-cutting is carried out. Four parallel blanks for filter cartridges are produced from a 1,000 mm wide web. In the subsequent forming section, the cartridges are shaped into the round geometry of the filter core and the open longitudinal side of the cylinder are welded.
The inner-core-barrel and outer shell are assembled on a rotary table. The filter cartridges are labelled and the relevant quality data is recorded. Then, they are transferred to a robotic handling system via a buffer section. The final process step is welding of the end caps.
